Perma challenged Gypsi to a bet the day before Nightmare Night. He said, "Gypsi, dear, I have a proposal. We shall hold a little race to see who can knit the most fashionable socks. Afterwards, we shall model them, and have unbiased third parties judge. Whomever earns the highest combined score shall win, and the loser must do something fairly humiliating." So they knitted their socks, modeled them, and were judged. Perma won by a single point, but he still won. Of course, he decided that Gypsi should dress as a pretty pony princess for Nightmare Night.
